The steps to Texture New Walls by Burke Painting, Prime Drywall before texturing to prevent future texture failure (Sand beforehand and after as needed and sand in between skim coats of drywall mud, for walls with no texture require more sanding at every step), then spray texture with an air compressor and hopper (or texture pump for commercial projects) always practise your spray pattern before starting. Keep in mind to have your hand do small circle motions going left and right and up and down for a consistent finish whether your praying orange peel or knock down. For a Knockdown Texture wait about 10 minutes then take a mud knife and lightly swipe the Texture going at different directions to achieve a random pattern. After Applying the texture and letting it cure, you can now prime again, after Priming it is ready to caulk the seams of the walls and paint two coats (sometimes more depending on the material)
